Waypoint Ranch

Programs

Functional therapies, on a functioning ranch.

Everything at Waypoint pairs evidence-based treatment with the holistic work of a real ranch: horses to partner with, ground to work, food to grow, and a family community that has been where you are. Run by veterans. Action oriented. Military family focused.

01

Equine-Assisted Psychotherapy

The horses

EAGALA Military Services / Natural Lifemanship / Parelli

Our equine work follows the EAGALA model with the military services designation, an action-oriented form of psychotherapy where a licensed clinician and a certified equine specialist work together with clients and horses on the ground. Horses read what people carry. Working alongside them, veterans and family members recognize their own patterns in a way that talk alone rarely reaches.

For trauma, we practice Natural Lifemanship's Trauma Focused Equine-Assisted Psychotherapy, along with rhythmic riding and sensory integration riding. Riding has therapeutic benefits for a dysregulated nervous system that cannot be obtained any other way.

Our horsemanship foundation comes from two decades of study in Parelli Natural Horsemanship and applied equine ethology, the scientific study of how horses actually behave.

02

Counseling & Accelerated Resolution Therapy

The clinicians

Licensed counselors / Veterans Choice providers

A working ranch is our setting, but clinical care is our backbone. Our counseling team includes licensed clinical social workers, professional counselors, marriage and family therapists, and psychologists, several of them Veterans Choice providers.

Accelerated Resolution Therapy is an emerging form of psychotherapy that works directly to reprogram the way distressing memories are stored in the brain, so they stop driving the body's alarm system. For post-traumatic stress, clients often report benefits after the very first session.

Alongside ART, the team practices cognitive behavioral therapy, EMDR (including equine-assisted EMDR), play and art therapy for children, child-parent psychotherapy, and mindfulness work. Whole families carry war home. We treat whole families.

Veteran Grown Food

The land

Care farming / Therapeutic horticulture

Coming home is its own campaign. Our care farming program, sometimes called green care, pairs animal-assisted work with therapeutic horticulture. Nurturing a living thing has an immediate calming effect, and growing food gives that effect a mission.

Veterans built our greenhouse hydroponic system with their own hands, then ran it for three years, producing a revenue stream that sustained the program. That is the model for everything we do: run by veterans, action oriented, military family focused.

Over a three-year span the program placed more than 5,000 food-bearing plants and trees on the lands of veteran families, turning backyards into orchards and gardens that keep giving.

Family Retreats on the Flint

The river

Waypoint River Ranch

The ranch sits on the Flint River in Meriwether County, Georgia, an hour southwest of Atlanta and a world away from it. Families come by appointment for retreat weekends built around the rhythms of a working ranch: horses to feed, gardens to tend, water moving past.

Retreats are peer-to-peer at their core. Military families help each other find peace at home, because the family that has walked the road is the best guide for the family just starting down it.

With the new barn opening in 2027, retreats gain what they have always lacked: a gathering room, a kitchen for shared meals, and all-weather space to meet no matter what the sky is doing.

Starting is one conversation away.

Every program begins with a private conversation and an appointment. Call 678-459-7825 or send us a note, and we will find the right way in for your family.
